My thesis research looks at factors that influence coral reef fish community structure and resilience in the Caribbean. I began with assessing effects of biogeography and geomorphology on fish communities using three Belizean atolls as model system. To gain insight into potential fish community compositional shifts, I investigate generalist feeding strategies of benthic invertivores in relation to habitat condition using behavioural and DNA-based (metabarcoding) methods. I also have a strong interest in working with fishing communities facing declining resources and rapid development (e.g. tourism).
