I'm interested in sexual selection and evolutionary biology generally, and have worked on a variety of model organisms from meal moths to sharks. Currently, I study the evolution of reproductive traits in the elasmobranch fishes (sharks and rays) in response to sexual selection. My research combines comparative and experimental approaches to consider how post-copulatory processes such as sperm competition influence the evolution of morphology, physiology and behaviour in this highly charismatic and ecologically important group of fishes.
